Acre has been engaged by a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy to source a Principal Ecologist. They provide a comprehensive and diverse set of professional services to a broad client base in both public and private sectors.
The Role
- Undertake ecological assessments as part of Environmental Impact Assessments
- Provide ecological advice to Clients
- Project management and budgeting
- Involvement in the delivery of a diverse range of projects at all levels throughout the UK
- Mentoring of junior team members
The Successful Candidate will:
- Be qualified to degree level or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline
- Hold one or more protected species license(s) coupled with full membership of IEEM
- Demonstrate a minimum of 8 years relevant experience including EIA and development lead ecology
- Have an understanding of ecological field investigations and a broad knowledge of all protected species issues
- Have experience of managing projects to completion
- Have a proven track record of managing junior staff
- Be self-motivated with strong communication skills, a keen business awareness and the ability to work as part of a team coupled with computer literacy and excellent report writing skills.

Acre is currently recruiting for a global, multi-disciplinary consultancy with a need to bolster and expand their environmental capacity specifically working on oil and gas and mining and mineral projects.
The individual will have:
- Significant experience in the management and delivery of EIAs for large scale mining and mineral and/or oil and gas projects
- Oversees experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Experience of working to World Bank regulations
- Proven work winning ability.
- Excellent report writing skills.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of current projects and continue to develop relationships with the largest oil and gas and mining and mineral companies in the world. In addition, the individual will have:
- Relevant engineering or science degree and post-graduate qualification.
- Extensive experience of managing large scale, interdisciplinary EIAs overseas
- Membership of a professional organisation
- The ability to work overseas for significant periods as needed
