Reporting to the Technical Director, the successful individual will be responsible for developing the wind or biomass sectors. You will increase the workload of wind or biomass projects across the UK, manage budgets, provide commercial input on projects and give specialist technical advice. You will be responsible for the overall project management including site identification, feasibility studies, site designing, planning, environmental impact assessments and financial modelling.
Requirements:
- Proven track record of winning and delivering consultancy services in the renewable energy sector
- Detailed knowledge of UK legislation and financial mechanisms in the renewable energy sector
- Knowledge of renewable and low carbon energy technologies, with a preference towards wind or biomass
- Strong management, project management and resourcing skills
- Excellent presentation and report writing skills
- Degree level education (or equivalent) is essential with a first degree and/or masters qualification in a related discipline

Our client, a leading energy services company, is currently seeking an accomplished Electrical Project Manager to manage their renewable energy projects throughout the UK.
Benefiting from a unique service offering and significant investment from major players within the energy sector, the company has expanded rapidly over the past two years and boasts a broad range of services including energy efficiency consultancy, BEMS, energy monitoring, and renewable technology installations (solar, biomass boilers and insulation).
Reporting to the Head of Operations you will play a key role in the delivery of renewable projects to commercial, public sector, and domestic clients. You will have a proven track record of running multiple projects, a thorough understanding of the construction industry and a working knowledge of the practicalities of electrical installations including health and safety.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Oversee the design and installation of renewable electrical installations
- Ensure that the design, analysis, calculations and projects are completed on time and adhere to project standards and specifications
- Take overall ownership of the projects from conception to completion and to meet and exceed customer expectations
- Ensure resources are optimised and the agreed programme of works is successfully delivered on time and within budget
- Identify resources required, manage and supervise contractors and suppliers alike
- Commercially and contractually astute with good knowledge of subcontract order conditions
Experience:
- A proven track record in successful mechanical and electrical installations, project management, implementation and delivery ideally in the renewable energy sector although traditional M&E building experience will certainly be considered
- Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge and expertise with a thorough understanding of the construction industry
- Awareness of safety regulations, best practice, and engineering standards
Skills & Qualifications:
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of electrical & mechanical engineering and installations
- A degree, BTEC or equivalent in Electrical and Mechanical Building Services Engineering
- Computer literate, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Design/drawing office experience including AutoCAD would be advantageous
- CITB 5 Day Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification would be advantageous
- Hold a valid CSCS/JIB ECS or other affiliated scheme is desirable
- A valid UK driving licence is essential as the role will involve travel on a regular basis
- A renewable energy qualification would be beneficial
